Banner Advertising on the DC Flamenco website

This is certainly not a new idea. A number of potential customers have been bugging me about this for several years now. So here's how it works:

Advertising will be in the form of a banner like this:

Of course you're welcome to design it anyway you like. (Design Tips) But there are a few requirements:

1. Size of the banner must be 468 pixels wide and 90 pixels tall (like the above banner)
2. File size of the banner can be no more than 50K and 72 dpi
3. GIF animation is OK
4. The visual design and text must within common standards of decency (I'll be the judge)
5. The products or services advertised must be relevant to visitors to my website. In other words there must be some connection to flamenco.

People can click on your banner ad to go to your own website. (You must have a website of your own. A basic page hosted on the DC Flamenco website can be created for an additional charge.) Or people can click to send an email to you. Or the banner ad can be non-clickable.

The banner will be displayed at the TOP of all the main pages of the DC Flamenco website ensuring maximum visibility. On average, this website gets more than 200 hits per day which comes to more than 5000 hits per month. To ensure frequent exposure, there is room for only three advertisers (randomly displayed) so your banner ad will be displayed at least 1 out of 3 times someone visits DC Flamenco until the last day of the advertising period.

This is how I will charge for this service:

1. $10.00 CPM (cost per thousand impressions). Those of you familiar with banner ad business will recognize the term CPM. (Glossary) An impression equates to each time a banner ad is displayed. There is an average of about 1400 impressions a week which adds up to about $56.00/month, but it varies depending on how often the DC Flamenco website is visited. This is billed monthly four weeks after the first-time the banner ad is displayed. Now you can track the success of your banner ad through your own password-protected statistics page. Here's a sample of what the statistics look like.
2. $35/four weeks Flat Rate. This makes accounting easier for me and is discounted but must be paid in advance.

Other options: I offer free announcements in my website calendar and in my news and updates column. Of course, to maintain the quality of my website I don't announce everything—just what I believe is most relevant to my readers and to the flamenco community here in DC. So as a rule I don't announce events outside of the DC area unless they involve DC area artists and even then I judge them on a case-by-case basis.
