Cosmo Milano. July 7, 2006 3:41pm
It's 10:07am on Saturday as I type these words. Despite getting home at 2:00am this morning and waking up at 8:00am, I feel unusually well-rested. They say at least eight hours minimum should be enough, right? Oh well, I say it's the quality of the sleep that matters. Six quality hours should do it for me. So who cares what they say? :-)
Yesterday (Friday) was both productive and satisfying. Got some personal errands taken care of as well as dropping off my sound equipment early at Cabanas. Since I was in Georgetown, I also squeezed in some quality time with a dancer friend. She was running late though, so I went ahead and got lunch by myself at my favorite Chinese place on Prospect St. And instead we ended up going next door at Cafe Milano for an after-work drink--for me, it was a pre-work drink. Hehe. She ordered a refreshing but quite strong cosmo--must've been a rough day. :-) I decided to pace myself and opted for a light Italian beer. I was just glad to have some stimulating company on this beautifully sunny afternoon.
My 5:00pm rehearsal was cancelled so my schedule freed up big time. So we hung out until 6:00pm-ish which gave me enough time to get back to Cabanas and setup and still have to chill before the show.
Good thing I got there early cuz I was having some technical issues with the sound. All the appropriate lights were blinking indiciating that the signal was going through the system, but strangely no sound was coming out of the speaker. So one by one I tested each link in the signal path until I discovered the problem--a bad microphone cable. Of course I buy the highest quality cables (by Monster) and they're not cheap but still these things do in fact wear out eventually. I was just glad it was the cable that was the problem and not my speaker. Whew!

Relieved that the problem was solved, I treated myself to a cold beer and finished off by setting up the stage lights before going out to enjoy the sunset on the boardwalk until the dancers arrived.
My friend Carla Pacheco came in time for the show, so I got her a front row table and she happily volunteered to take pics for me. Thanks Carla! Check 'em out...
