Wednesday with Miguelito April 5, 2006
It's 10:31am on Thursday as I type these words. I'm finally getting into the rhythm of blogging regularly again. I was having a rough week last week, nothing too serious, but obviously enough to throw me off. Some of my closer friends sensed what was going on and came through to support me. This is the text from an electronic card I got earlier this week:
Dear Miguelito,
I know that biz can get stressing at times, but just know that you're an awesome guitar player and you are admired by a lot of people! hope this card makes u laugh a little bit...P.s keep the flame burning inside miguelito!!
hope ur nail gets better soon!! ~toma que toma!
Another one called me yesterday, to show her support and to thank me for being there for her as a friend. And I realized that yeah, I have personal problems like everyone else but in the larger scheme of things, I 'm still very fortunate to be doing what I love to do for a living. I'll acknowledge the problems but I shouldn't let them get me down. I should just suck it up and hang in there. Things really aren't that bad!

Marsha and Miguelito at the Alliance Dance Institute. April 5, 2006 11:53am
OK, moving on...yesterday (Wednesday) I had a very good rehearsal with Marsha Bonet at the Alliance Dance Institute. We have a performance coming up at the end of this month and haven't been able to rehearse together as much as we should. You know how it is. But now that the performance is coming up in a few weeks, we have that motivation to get off our butts and get to work. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know. Ideally we should be motivated enough solely by El Arte. Ugh, get real, people! Flamenco is just a part of my life (well, a large part of my life) but it doesn't completely revolve around it.

Let me put it this way: I'm not living and breathing flamenco 24-7, but when it comes down to it and I'm rehearsing or performing on stage, for that short time, I allow myself to be completely taken over by the spirit of flamenco.
Later that evening, I had my usual gig at Cafe Bonaparte...

Tonight (Thursday) I'll be at the Andalucia in Rockville performing with a fellow filipino flamenco, Pam de Ocampo. See you there!

Hey Miguelito,
Just wanted to let you know that there is a big rally on Monday April 10 from 3pm at the Washington Monument. It will be the Immigrants Rights Rally, the biggest immigrant protest in the Nation's Capital. We will all protest HR447 which effects everyone of all nations and it would be really cool if you can mention this rally in your blog and spread the word. The more support the better. The following is an internet site talking about HR4437: http://www.justiceforimmigrants.org/HR4437.html And the following is the site for the event on Monday: http://www.april10.org Keep up with the site, love it. Appreciate all the help and hope to see you there.
