Miguelito's Photo DiaryAugust 16, 2004 - August 25, 2004
Cafe Bonaparte August 25, 2004 Business has been good so far: the show is attracting a lot of people. The last two times, since I had my guitar with me, I joined Behzad and Gerard for the last set just for fun. Congrats to Behzad for setting up this gig. It's about time we brought flamenco to Georgetown again!

For me, the Monday night show at Cafe Citron is a great way to start off the week with a bang. Besides having the pleasure of performing with both a singer and a dancer (the only show in DC with a singer, by the way), the younger crowd and lively ambience make it feel more like a party more than a performance. Almost every week, we invite members of the audience to come up and dance Sevillanas.

Lately, we've been packing Cafe Citron with so many people they have to stand outside the door to see the show! TIP: while we love the moral support of a large enthusiastic crowd, it doesn't help business-wise if you turn around and leave after the show. You can give better support by buying drinks and food too, please--at least buy one drink. We give a good show, but if business is bad, the show eventually gets cancelled. You wouldn't want that now would you? ;) August 23, 2004 9:38pm (photo by Liliane)
See what I mean? It's like a house party. I love it! August 23, 2004 9:33pm (photo by Liliane)

Miguelito with more Monday night regulars: Madiha, Gisele, Liliane and Ivana. I publish pictures of regulars to show my appreciation for their support. Yeah, we artists do the performing, but the regulars are making the show possible by buying drinks and food and filling up the place. Flamenco is art, but business is still business! Thank you ladies! August 23, 2004 11:17pm (photo by Maynol)

The weather was gorgeous. I only wished we could have squeezed in a few hours at the beach. Still...for me it was a special day because I was accompanying one of my favorite dancers who's also a very close friend: Micaela Moreno. Unfortunately for me, she lives way out in Delaware.
